County to Gain Major Employer

By this summer, an Annapolis company will be the biggest private employer in Bowie.
MedAssurant, which provides health care management and data analysis services, is moving its headquarters from Annapolis to Bowie, and eventually plans to bring more than 500 jobs to the area.The company has started moving employees into Bowie Corporate Center, where it is leasing close to 100,000 square feet of office space. The building is near Bowie Town Center at 4321 Collington Road....

Buchanan Partners of Gaithersburg built the ‘‘green” office building in 2006, with features including a heating and cooling system that reduces energy use by 30 percent, low-emitting materials and water-conserving plumbing fixtures. It was certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.Bowie Corporate Center has close to 126,000 square feet of space that is 99 percent leased.

‘‘This transaction is a validation of the growing Bowie and Prince George’s County office markets, as well as the concept of providing environmentally conscious and energy-efficient space to corporate tenants,” said Brian Benninghoff of Buchanan Partners in a statement.
